Intensive Services

Sometimes, more care is needed than the usual outpatient therapy schedule offers. Our team is available to work with you using frequent or extended sessions on a time-limited basis if we decide together that it is the best way to serve your needs.

When is intensive treatment a good idea?

We often use extended or frequent sessions when doing “in vivo” or exposure with response prevention sessions, or when working through crises. Intensive treatment sessions can be helpful to:

  • Students who want to work intensively on anxiety, mood, or other issues over their summer or winter breaks

  • Individuals working in behavioral therapy on anxiety or issues like OCD, hoarding, substance use, or eating disorders

  • Couples or families in crisis

  • Persons working through trauma using prolonged exposure or other therapeutic approaches

How does it work?

You’ll meet with your clinician for one or more initial assessment sessions and arrive together at goals and a timeline for your treatment. Your clinician will then work with you to craft a plan tailored to your goals, including a meeting schedule - how often and for how long you’ll meet, and what you’ll work on. Your plan might include intensive behavioral work with exposure and response prevention in the office, at home, or in the community; or extended sessions for couples or families in distress.

What is the cost?

The cost of intensive therapy is based on session length, using our clinicians’ usual hourly session rate. We will provide you with a clear “good faith estimate” of costs as you develop a treatment plan. We do not bill insurance for intensive therapy, though we are happy to provide you with a receipt.
